Microsoft has recently acknowledged a bug in Windows 10 version 1803 that's causing some devices, much like the Surface Book 2, to get a fatal crash after installing cumulative update KB4467682.

A lot of people reported a couple of hours ago, the bug only seems to hit the exterior Book 2 that're being updated towards latest build of Windows 10 version 1803 (April 2018 Update).

The BSOD practical knowledge all of a sudden with no clear pattern for reproducing consumption, and uninstalling the update appears to prevent similar crashes.

Which is exactly Microsoft's recommended workaround, when using the company explaining that users should remove cumulative update KB4467682 until a fix lands. Meantime, the software giant moreover blocked more Surface Book 2 devices from finding the right update, and those that haven't installed it simply yet are recommended to wait just for a new cumulative update.

"After installing this optional update many folks may get a blue or black screen with error code, "System thread exception not handled." For customers who are currently experiencing this particular, please follow these instructions Troubleshoot blue screen of death errors and uninstall KB4467682," Microsoft says.

"For Surface Book 2 customers, we have been only blocking this optional update. You can receive the required December 2018 security update release. A solution for this issue will likely be available in the December 2018 security update release."

The security update release that Microsoft is referring to is the December 2018 Patch Tuesday that may take place saturday. Microsoft will thus release new cumulative updates for all those Windows 10 versions, including for this April 2018 Update, using a fix for this problem likely to be included.

Folks is that users who remove this cumulative update are hitting other challenges, like broken Windows Hello, yet Microsoft isn't providing any info in this way.
